General Description
The Team Trainer has responsibilities for developing and implementing programmes to ensure the players possess the physical fitness to reduce the risk of injury and to deliver the coaches game plan.
Team Trainers need to be able to tailor their programmes to reflect the age and ability of the players they are training.
The key qualities or skills required for a Team Trainer include:
- A good knowledge and understanding of fitness training.
- A knowledge of rugby league or a desire and ability to develop that knowledge
- Well organised
- An effective oral communicator.
- An good understanding of injury prevention and treatment
REPORT TO: Team Coach, Club Captein (Junior or Senior as appropriate) and Club Management Committee
Accountable for
- Developing and implementing a base fitness programme, suitable for the age of the players participating targeted at improving overall fitness and strength.
- Developing programmes for specific players to meet the requirements of their specialist positions.
- Working proactively to reduce the risk of player injury.
- Working with the coach and players to ensure injuries are managed in the best possible way for the players overall benefit.
- Act as a positive role model to all players in regards to overall fitness and living a healthy lifestyle.
- Actively promote player well being and safety.
- Positively and pro-actively promote the club in the local community.
- Help the club to stay in good working order – cleaning, working bees.
- If not a committee member attend club committee meetings when requested.
- Attend to any other matters as requested by the club committee.
- Be compliant with the club’s constitution.
