Player Eligibility For Play-Offs

To be eligible for a player to participate in any playoff or final the following regulation is applicable:

To qualify for any play off series format determined, players must have played a majority of their football in the preceding seven (7) weeks prior to the  commencement of the play off series in that team or a lower grade except in the circumstance where a player has not qualified under this clause due to any official representative team playing commitments in the defined preceding seven (7) weeks.

Points of clarification or examples:

  1. This covers all competition grades under the control of the Auckland Rugby League and includes NZ Warrior's and the Toyota Cup.
  2. A player may play up a grade from which he is eligible without restriction.

  4. If a player who has played one game in the Premier team and not played for 6 of the previous 7 weeks prior to the playoffs they will be ineligible to play in any lower grade team as the majority of football in those 7 weeks has been in the Premier team. The player is eligible for the Premier team only.
  5. If a player plays for their normal age grade team and then plays for a higher age grade on the same day or same weekend, they have for purposes of eligibility definition played for the higher grade team.
  6. If a player is listed on the team card and does not take the field, they have for definition of this clause deemed to have taken the field.
  7. If a player has played two games in one team and two games in another team (ie 2 games Premiers, two games Premier 1st's) they will have for the purposes of eligibility definition have played the majority of their football in the higher grade team. The player is ineligible for Premier 1sts or a lower grade team.
