Protests

The following protests are applicable for all teams:

  1. Age
  2. Weight
  3. Registration

Any team may lodge a protest against an opposing team.

Procedure:

The procedure and requirements for lodgement of a protest are printed on the reverse of the Team Card.

  1. Any player or players challenged by the opposing team must have the names of the players challenged inserted and the players must sign the team card in the respective section. This must be completed on both team cards. The cards are also required to be signed by both team coaches and the match referee.
  2. Should any challenged player or coach refuse to sign either card, the protest will have been deemed to be won by the protesting team.
  3. All protests lodged must be supported by a letter from the club outlining the background and reasons for the protest and be lodged with the Auckland Rugby League within 48 hours of the game accompanied by a fee of $20.00 for each protested player or players. The protest will be adjudicated on by the respective Management Committees in which that grade is administered and the fee will be forfeited if unsuccessful.
  4. Any player challenged on weight requires the challenged player or players along with the coach and manager of each team to report to the Auckland Rugby League Facility at Cornwall Park on the Monday following the game between 6.30pm and 7.00pm.
  5. In the event the player or players protested against are found to be out of order, the club from which the player is registered will be fined $50.00 for the first and each subsequent offence after notice after notice was served by the respective management committee.
  6. All players found out of order will result in any competition points won by the team for that respective game being forfeited.
  7. In the event of a registration protest being upheld, the team will forfeit any points won from the game and any subsequent games the unregistered player participated in from written notification by the respective management committee.
  8. No late protest lodgements will be received.

Out of Order Players

All players must be registered correctly under the registration requirements of the Auckland Rugby League Constitution and By-Laws. Any player found to be out of order during a game whether by way of protest or ARL Official check will incur a penalty fine and loss of competition points for all games any out of order player participated in.
