Appeals

Transfer Appeals:

  1. Any player refused a transfer by his former club has the right of appeal to theTransfer Appeals Committee.
  2. If aggrieved at the decision of the Transfer Appeals Committee the appellant has further right of appeal to an independently appointed Independent Appeals Committee. Any appeal must be received by the ARL office within 48 hours of the decision being reached and received in writing. A fee of $100.00 is payable and must be received with the appeal application. The fee will be forfeited if unsuccessful.
  3. Any party aggrieved at the decision of the Independent Appeals Committee has a further right of appeal to the New Zealand Rugby League. Any appeal must be lodged with the ARL within 48 hours of the appeal decision being reached and received in writing. Any such appeal carries a fee of $500.00 which must be received with the appeal application. The fee will be forfeited if the appeal is unsuccessful.

All appeals to the Independent Appeals Committee and New Zealand Rugby League must include full grounds on which the appeal is based in the written submissions. Failure to submit within a 72-hour timeframe the appeal grounds in writing, will result in the appeal having been deemed withdrawn.

Committee Appeals:

  1. Any party who has been suspended or disqualified by any duly authorised Committee shall have a right of appeal to the Board of Directors. Any appeal must be lodged within 48 hours of the decision being reached and received in writing by the suspended person.
  2. Any party aggrieved at a decision of the Board of Directors may have the right of appeal to the Independent Appeals Committee. Any such appeal must be lodged within 48 hours of the decision being reached and received in writing to the ARL. Any such appeal carries a fee of $100.00 and must be received with the appeal application. The appeal fee is forfeited if unsuccessful.
  3. Any party aggrieved at he decision of the Independent Appeals Committee has a further right of appeal to the New Zealand Rugby League. Any appeal must be lodged with the ARL General Manager within 48 hours of the appeal decision being reached and received in writing. Any such appeal carries a fee of $500.00 and is forfeited if unsuccessful.

Judicial Appeals:

  1. Any person found guilty by the Judicial Committee of an offence shall have the right of appeal to the Judicial Appeals Committee. Any such appeal must be lodged with the ARL within 48 hours of the penalty being imposed. A fee of $300.00 must accompany any appeal and shall be forfeited if unsuccessful. Any appeal lodged must state the reasons for the appeal. Any player(s) suspended may not play pending the appeal hearing.
  2. If aggrieved at the decision of the Judical Appeals Committee, the appellant has a further right of appeal to the New Zealand Rugby League. Any appeal must be lodged in writing with the ARL within 48 hours of the decision being reached and received in writing. Any such appeal carries a fee of $500.00 and shall be forfeited if the appeal is unsuccessful.
