Mouthguard Policy

The Auckland Rugby League has a mandatory mouthguard policy in all grades from U/6′s up to and including Premier football. If a player is found not to be wearing a mouthguard during a game, the player will be sent from the field and will not be eligible to return to the game. Any player sent off for not wearing a mouthguard can be replaced from the remaining official team card listed reserves only. Any player sent from the field must leave the playing area and get out of his playing strip before he can return to the sideline.

A player sent off for non-compliance of the mouthguard policy does not have to appear before the ARL Judicial Committee. The sending off is deemed sufficient penalty.

A player for medical reasons can apply for dispensation to the New Zealand Rugby League. In furnishing an application for dispensation, the player must include a Medical or Dental Report along with a Passport Photo.

Mouthguards are strongly recommended to be worn in the Mini Football age group (U/6 to U/9) and the Mod Football age group (U/10 to U/12).
