The Auckland Rugby League's Tackle Confidence online module and manual launched this week will help teach the fundamentals of safe tackling over a six-week programme.

The programme, which will be a compulsory element of the U6 grade, will help give our youngest players the chance to learn the skill of tackling in a low pressure and fun environment. 

Delivered by club coaches, the Tackle Confidence Manual includes fun warm-up games, tackle fundamentals, information around concussion management, tackle zones, safe landing and bracing for contact practices and also has an easy six-week session/delivery plan.

U6 coaches will be encouraged to deliver the programme to their team during training nights in the first half of the season, before they make the move to tackling under the Junior Development Framework.
